I got to go with Hunter's class on a field trip to Stuffington Bear Factory! At first, I wondered how they worked this into the curriculum, but then I realized that it went along with their "Fabric" unit!! They learned all about different fabrics & factories!! It was a fun field trip! They got to go in the "factory" and see the huge bolts of fabric & the workers actually sewing bears together!! The store was cool, but was no Build-A-Bear by any means!! The bears weren't really cute & for the $13 we had to pay, you'd have thought they could have had a little t-shirt for the bear - - not just ribbons!! :( Oh well - the kids had fun!! :)
Stuffing the bear
They hand sew the bears after they're stuffed!!
Waiting to have them "fluffed" (can't remember exactly what this station was - the guy used some electric tool - - maybe to de-fuzz them??)
Grooming the bears
Grooming again - kinda like a shop vac!
Picking out ribbons
Hunter & his bear - "Mutt" :) There were black, yellow or brown bears and GREEN elephants!!! ;)
The class sitting on a HUGE teddy bear!
